We are excited to announce that our March kitchen resident will be the wonderful Soul Food Sisters. Launched in 2013 as a supper club based in a one bedroom flat in North London, they re-launched as a pop-up last summer & enjoyed successful runs across London in venues including Craving Coffee, The Dukes Head, The Canvas Café & The Green Rooms. Defining the wonderful food Soul Food Sisters produce is pretty tricky so we’ll let them tell you themselves:
” The food we cook isn’t traditional anything. We take a lot of inspiration Caribbean flavours, those from Jamaica in particular, a country we have totally fallen in love with for its stunning beauty, vibrant culture & incredible food; food with so much life & love behind it. Living in Tottenham we are lucky enough to be able to get our hands on loads of great, fresh Caribbean ingredients. We also love to eat our way around Europe – making our way through small plates packed with bold ingredients and beautiful colours. Being British girls – growing up by the seaside, eating fish straight out of the sea – we like to keep our dishes fresh & simple, but always with extra spice & bite.”
Their most famous dishes include 10 Hour Slow-cooked Curry Goat, SFS Fried Chicken marinated in a secret recipe & their amazing Rum Jerk Halloumi which will certainly see you coming back for seconds. Visitors to their residency can also expect a number of new dishes such as Mini-blini Pancakes with Coconut Callaloo Greens, Fully Loaded Corn Nachos topped with Perry Perry Chicken (their surname is Perry, get it!) & Sweet Corn Fritters with Poached Eggs, Avocado & Bacon for brunch will set you up for a busy (or lazy) weekend. Sunday will see amazing Jerk Roast Chicken served to satisfy those of you looking for your roast dinner hit.
All in, it’s looking like a pretty tasty month. Flavours that should drag is into Spring with a smile on our face & spice in our bellies!
